Friday night I got home and realized I spilled on my dress, so I switched to the dress that arrived in the mail – the “Kate” dress from J. Crew in “Flame.” This is a bright orange-red that I adore. On sale and with a coupon so the dress was a cheap as Old Navy. Score! Same accessories.
Attended a circle of women in my community which was really wonderful. Met some new people, connected closer with those I already knew, had some of the BEST watermelon of the season!
Saturday… for the life of me I cannot remember Saturday. Oh yes, yoga, then lunch with my mom, then ran errands. I came home and tried out some of the camping supplies for our upcoming trip to Bonnaroo, waterproofed my Duo boots, took a nap, went out to dinner… nothing terribly exciting and no pictures.
Sunday began with errands and then yoga.

We had a great time, saw lots of friends, played with their son who just turned 1, chilled on the beach and grilled for dinner. Got a bit of sun even though I put on the SPF 30.
Monday we went to visit friends in Northern Virginia who just got a new place and were having a cookout/housewarming. Again no full-length pic, just a shot of me in the back seat en route.

Yesterday I carried a clutch to work and a reader emailed me asking, How can you carry such a small bag to work? My work bag is almost the size of a suitcase to hold all I need, and yesterday there was a chance of rain in DC. I’d love to see what is in… Continue Reading What’s In My Bag? Clutch Edition
Oh shoes… one of my favorite subjects! Flats are a puzzle to me. It seems ballet flats are โtheโ flat shoe if you want to look fashionable, but I rarely find a pair I think look nice on me. Iโm needing a flat shoe thatโs versatile, comfy, and looks good. What should I be… Continue Reading Ask Allie: All About Shoes
I really like the capsule wardrobe posts that you have been doing. Would you consider doing one for a jeans work environment? Our company recently switched policies to allow casual dress everyday, as long as the jeans are dressier. My last three places of employment have allowed jeans as long as they were dressed up.… Continue Reading Ask Allie: Denim-based Office Capsule Wardrobe
I’ve had many friends, and many of you tell me you’ve tried Stitch Fix and you’ve had mixed experiences. And many of you have asked my opinion of Stitch Fix especially since it added plus sizes (and they added a program for men!). ย Right now they’re having a promotion where your first stying fee is… Continue Reading Stitch Fix Review
It’s Thursday evening and I am tired, both mentally and physically. We went camping last weekend and left early thanks to rain, which hasn’t really stopped ever since. I work on weekends, there’s no way to get everything with a blog done during the week, especially since I take time to go to the gym… Continue Reading Weekend Reads #22
While what you wear is important, how you wear it, how you care for it, and how it fits is what really determines great style. Iโve been writing this post for a while, but reader Jenniferโs comment on a recent post not only inspired me to complete it, but also inspired the title. There are… Continue Reading Clothing Care Tips: The Invisible Infrastructure of Great Style

LOVE that dress with those sandals. What a fantastic color, reminds me of that long ago blood orange Mizrahi sweater at Target.
