I mentioned in this post that I was digging the Crazy Stripe items from Gap… I liked them so much I got some for all of us and we decided to use it in this year's holiday card! Emerson loves this sweater and wears it all the time. I didn't think Karl would adore the scarf, but he also wears it quite often. I wear my sweater too, as you can see in this blog post. I just love how happy and cheerful the color combination is, and that it's not specifically holiday. We took these pictures in our living room with a self timer and white backdrop. We took only three photos, and two made the cut! Emerson is the one who suggested the peace signs!
We had the first photo on the front with Peace, Love, and Joy on the bottom and this photo on the back with a wish for a happy 2018. I would show you the cards but I underestimated the number needed and sent out every single one. However, I have these photos to remind us that while 2017 wasn't the best, we have each other, we can remember the good times, and head into a new year with strength and a positive outlook!
FYI, I am wearing the sweater in XL. This sweater is not a relaxed/boxy fit, but more of a tailored shape and ends high hip. I bought Emerson the sweater in L hoping she'd get another year out of it, it too runs small and shrinks a bit even when following the laundry instructions. It fits her now, but I'm not expecting it to work after this year. Crazy Stripe is currently on sale, I may buy a larger one for Emerson to have on hand for next fall so we can twin again! And for those wondering, Karl's sweater is Banana Republic from a couple years ago; this full-zip sweater looks like a similar fabrication and color.

{via} While hearing the passing of MCA last week was heartbreaking, and finding out that Donna Summer died today was awful, for me the most painful recent passing of a musician is Chuck Brown. For those who are unfamiliar with Chuck Brown, he is known as The Godfather of Go-Go, a DC legend, an icon…
I had the opportunity to try the Nori Press steam iron, but thought it would be more helpful to read an honest Nori Press review from a non-influencer. I reached out in the Wardrobe Oxygen community for a member to receive the Nori Press and provide their honest, unfiltered thoughts. Is this social media-famous mini…
It has been a long time since I have done a reader survey. I will be sharing this in a dedicated blog post and on social media, but my Weekend Reading Warriors, I wanted to send this to you first. It’s not too long, it’s a Google survey, emails are not collected so it’s anonymous,…
“If you can’t laugh at yourself, life’s gonna seem a whole lot longer than you like.” – Sam (Natalie Portman), Garden State When figuring out a costume for today I couldn’t pass up making fun of myself as a fashion blogger. I’m proud to be one, and I am so glad blogs are out there…
When I started middle school, I suddenly realized my wardrobe was woefully inadequate. In a much larger school with kids from several feeder schools from across the county, I now was in class with kids from different types of neighborhoods, different income levels, and different senses of style. In elementary school, it was more about…
My friend Jessica sent me an email yesterday with this GIF in it. Jessica is a special person in general, but extra special to me because she’s a friend I made through this blog. Her investigative skills many years ago made her realize her office and my office at the time had to be within…
I was just watching this Christmas’ Gap commecccommeercial (during Colbert) and thinking … wait that was good but this is better and I didn’t even realized the three of you were wearing Gap. Next year I hope it’s your family in the Gap commercial.
I really enjoy your blog and appreciate that you actually include some text rather than just photos/links to products with a quick line or two. I was a little worried for you when you left your job but it seems to really be agreeing with you! You look happier and healthier.
I may be over-doing it with my comments, but I can’t help myself: you look so happy and full of life. I am contemplating some changes in my life, spurred by some circumstances that I wish were different. You are a great example and role model of taking a risk, rolling with the consequences, and moving strongly towards happiness.
I read your blog pretty much daily, but not sure I’ve commented – you guys are so cute! I wish you all the very Merriest Christmas and all the best for a happy, healthy and wonderful 2018!

Aww thank you!
Happy holidays to you, Emerson and Karl!
And to you too Sonia!
Those are really fun! And a great idea for a family picture. Wishing you all a wonderful 2018.
Thank you Julia, wishing you the same! <3

Such a great post, Laurel! Trends and style transcend the closet to many other areas, most especially home decor!
